Burner & Combustion System Services
If it's part of the burner and combustion system, it's what we work on. From a burner that won't light to a plant that's burning more fuel than it should, our factory-trained technicians handle the whole system: the burner, fuel train, air supply, controls and flame safeguard. Every visit ends with a written report showing what we found, what we did and the O2, CO and efficiency readings before and after.
-
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
Lockouts, flame failures, hard starts, pilot problems, short cycling, rumbling or pulsing flames, sooting and high CO. We trace the problem to its cause, whether that's fuel pressure, air supply, linkage, a failing component or a control setting, instead of resetting the control and hoping it holds. You get a written summary of what we found and what we fixed.
-
Burner Startup & Commissioning
New burners, replacement burners and equipment coming back online after repairs. A burner is only as good as its startup. We check the fuel train, safeties and flame safeguard, light off, set the fuel-air ratio across the full firing range with a calibrated analyzer, and leave you a startup report with the final settings and readings.
-
Combustion Tuning
Burners drift out of adjustment over time. Linkages wear, air dampers and fuel valves shift, and seasonal changes in air temperature and humidity change how much air the flame actually gets. Too much excess air sends heat up the stack; too little produces CO and soot.
We tune with a calibrated combustion analyzer, setting the fuel-air ratio point by point from low fire to high fire. You get a report with O2, CO, stack temperature and combustion efficiency at each firing rate, before and after.
Annual tuning makes sense for most commercial and industrial boilers, and after any burner repair, fuel change or control replacement.
-
Emissions Testing
Flue gas testing with a calibrated analyzer at each firing rate, measuring O2, CO, NOx and stack temperature. You get a written report of the results, whether you need a record for your files or want to confirm a burner is running clean after tuning or repairs.
-
Calibration
Calibration of fuel-air ratio curves, gas and air pressure switches, operating and high-limit controls, flame scanners, transmitters, O2 trim systems and actuator positions. Calibration reports give your staff and your insurer a clear record that the safety and control devices are reading correctly.
-
Burner Management & Flame Safeguards
Troubleshooting, programming and replacement of burner management systems and flame safeguard controls, including flame scanners, ignition and safety shutoff sequences. We check that the system does what it's supposed to do when something goes wrong.
-
Control Upgrades & Retrofits
When an older burner's controls fail or parts are no longer available, we can upgrade to current burner controls or linkageless (parallel positioning) systems and keep the rest of the burner in service. That includes discontinued burners such as Gordon-Piatt.
-
Fuel Trains & Valve Proving
Inspection and testing of gas and oil trains: regulators, pressure switches, safety shutoff valves and valve proving systems, so the fuel side of the burner is as safe and reliable as the flame.
